The Pitz 8th April - Spitting Image, Anti Vigilante, Back Seat Drivers, Six.Point.Five

To put it bluntly, it was an absolutely brilliant night. Great performances all round. However I'm an honest working Boots girl on Friday nights of all nights and obviously this leads to complications and -*cough* I missed the whole of the first band, *cough*

Sorry..

So! Starting off with Anti-Vigilante. I'd heard of this band before, but never actually heard their music. Frankly, for their first Pitz gig they weren't half bad. At the beginning the vocals seemed somewhat tense but as the set went on, they just got better and better - some catchy guitar riffs there too. Obviously with a lot AV fans in the crowd, they received a good reception and from what I hear (I hear a lot of things) their EP is even better. I see another gig for these guys pretty soon maybe?

Looking to spend my freshly earned cash, I took the time to browse the flea market at the back, and came back with the new Six.Point.Five EP and album. Was considering buying the A-V EP (it was only £3 quid – thumbs up on the value side!) but then got into a conversation with the Six.Point.Five drummer and come on, I'm only human ;)

ANYWAY!
Back Seat Drivers! First up, kudos to them because they trekked from absolutely miiiiiles away to be with us. God, they really know how to make a random member of the audience feel special.
But yes, back to the reviewing part – they were amazing, they just had this kind of energy that made them stand out. After reading comments from the Pitz website, it seems I'm not the only one who thought so. Guys, have you ever thought about MK as a permanent arrangement?

Finally, on stage came the legendary SixPointFive. And the crowd evidently thought so too as they were MENTAL during this set. Definitely one of the most dynamic and lively gigs they've played this year. Great range of material from the new and brilliant “Finding Neema” to the classic and equally brilliant “Steve McQueen”. The charming lead vocalist managed to get whole room moving (the fact that he's “welllll fit” has nothing to do with it at all. Honest....)
In fact being at the front had its clear advantages, and I quote TheBootsGirl's friend “OMG HE LOOKED AT ME!" (followed by general EEE-ing).

The number of crowdsurfers went through the roof in this last set. I should know cos the bouncer decided to stand in front of me every time and when he stands on the step, I'm kind of at that height called crotch level. Woo. Yet another advantage I'm sure...

Tip, never stand where the bouncers are positioned because every time someone's coming over your head (god, I should really consider rephrasing that lol!), you wanna help so you turn around, about to lift someone over the barriers, and BAM!
There's a crotch INCHES from your face.

But crotch-related experiences aside, it was a great gig and I'm sure a lot of you damn well concur.
Here's to the next one!
